The Feisty Red Hats of Westmoreland
The Feisty Red Hats of Westmoreland got
their start at the Westmoreland Nutrition Center and received their
first charter in July, 2004. The charter was renewed in July, 2005. We
are an official chapter
of the Red Hat Society which has chapters in
countries all over the world, at least 50 at last count. It is open to
all women (over 50 for Red Hatters and under 50 for pink hatters). The
object is for women to get together for "playtime". We get together on
the last Saturday of the month to go to movies, out to eat, go on tours
or whatever the group wants to do. We even took a tour on the river
boat, Delta Queen, the last side wheel steam boat in the United States.
If it is not illegal or immoral, we'll try it !! We have ridden in
parades and had lots of fun. We are also there for each other in times
of
sickness
or grief and we are also ready to help our sisters celebrate
accomplishments or milestones in their lives. When we first
organized one new member asked what the rules and dues were. When I told
here there were none, she was aghast !!! She said she had never belonged
to a club that didn't have rules. She dropped out. We had
our share of rules and fund raisers in our younger years, now it's our
time to go out and play !!!
